The Collaborative Art Project is a collaboration between professor of art Amy Schmierbach, Fort Hays State University students, and Developmental Services of Northwest Kansas, specifically the Reed Center and Employment Connections. Schmierbach and students will provide workshops to the DSNWK groups to provide structured art experiences centered around weaving, drawing, and photography. The goal of this project is to expand the arts in the Hays community to help reach more individuals, specifically creating more opportunities in the arts. Schmierbach and FHSU students will not just teach these workshops, but rather collaborate and create art with the people served by DSNWK. This Project is funded from the State of Kansas Creative Art Industries Grant, The National Endowment for the Arts, DSNWK, and FHSU Undergraduate Research Grant.
